Yoga is intended to "increase relaxation and balance the mind, body, and spirit" (NCCAM) through ancient poses, controlled breathing, and meditation. During yoga, the body becomes both relaxed and energized.
The ultimate goal of yoga is to reach complete peacefulness of body and mind, which helps you to relax and manage stress and anxiety.
There are various styles of yoga. Some move through the stretching poses quickly, and are almost like an aerobic workout. Other styles of yoga relax you deeply and are more gentle. Some may be based on a spiritual philosophy, while other forms are used purely as exercise.
